About Us

Governance

The Trust is a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Act 2006. It is formed by the signatories of the Memorandum of Association. It is bound by its Memorandum and Articles of Association, which were agreed with the Department for Education at the point of formation. Subject to the provisions of the Companies Act 2006, the Articles and to any directions given by special resolution of the Members, the business of the Trust shall be managed by the Trustees.

'At the heart of our vision are some simple yet powerful statements of intent. We want to deliver inspirational teaching and learning to all our children and young people. We want to provide outstanding school to school support and create an environment where students, parents and staff want to come to our schools. Our system will never mean schools working in isolation. We want them to be fully integrated with their local community and connected with, and learning from, each other.'

Ian Furlong, Chair of Trust Board

The Trustees (collectively, the Board) appoint Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) for each school. The constitution, membership and proceedings of the LGBs are established through discussion with the current Chair of an existing school’s LGB prior to conversion. The functions and proceedings of the LGBs are subject to regulations made or approved by the Trustees, from time to time.
