  • Croxby's New OPAL Play

    Published 25/02/26

This morning, we were delighted to attend the official opening of the new OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) play developments at Croxby Primary School.

The event began with an insightful assembly delivered by Precision Timber Ltd outlining the purpose and impact of high‑quality outdoor play environments. Their introduction set the scene perfectly for what OPAL aims to achieve: richer play experiences, improved wellbeing, and more creative, confident learners.

Following the assembly, pupils had their first opportunity to explore and enjoy the newly installed equipment — and their enthusiasm said it all. It was fantastic to see the space already fostering collaboration, imagination, and active play.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. The OPAL approach continues to transform school playtimes, and today was a brilliant example of the positive impact these developments can have.

Here’s to many years of enriched outdoor play for the children at Croxby Primary School.

  • Subject Development Day

Today, colleagues came together for our Subject Development Day — a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate, and grow as professionals. From inspiring sessions led by external speakers to rich discussions within departments, the day was filled with new ideas, shared strategies, and renewed enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

Haili Hughes explored adaptive teaching through a “teach to the top” lens, focusing on how to both support and stretch learners. Online sessions with Catrina Lowri examined strategies to support our neurodivergent learners, while behaviour and education specialist Adele Bates shared insights on building relationships and supporting learner behaviour. Meanwhile, our primary colleagues benefited from an engaging day with Dr LJ Ducksbury, exploring positive influence, psychological safety, inclusive practice, and getting the best out of everyone.

It’s always energising to see colleagues learning from one another and striving to bring the very best to our learners.
