SEND Local Offer

In the UK, a Local Offer for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a statutory requirement introduced under the Children and Families Act 2014. It is designed to provide clear, comprehensive, and accessible information about the services and support available locally for children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND, and their families.

Key Features of a Local Offer:

  1. Information in One Place
It sets out, in one place, what support is available in the local area – from education, health, and social care services.

  2. Developed with Families
It is created in partnership with parents, carers, children, and young people, ensuring it reflects local needs and priorities.

  3. Improves Choice and Transparency
Helps families understand what they can expect and how to access support. It also helps identify gaps in provision and plan future services.

  4. Covers a Broad Range of Needs and Services, including:
  • Special schools and mainstream schools with SEND support
  • Educational psychologists and specialist teaching services

  • Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and CAMHS

  • Transport arrangements

  • Support for transitions (e.g. from school to college or adult services)

  • Short breaks and respite services

  • Support for independent living and employment

Our organisation collaborates with two local authorities. Below are the links to their offers.
