Nearly two dozen staff from academies across The Consortium Academy Trust have now taken part in the two-day Adult Mental Health First Aid Training provided by Mindworks Training, part of Hull and East Yorkshire Mind. The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course teaches people how to identify, understand and support a person who may be developing a mental health issue. Areas covered include how to: 

• Develop a better understanding of mental health and how it affects people
• To be able to spot the early signs of a mental health issue
• Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health issue
• How to provide support on a first aid basis
• How to help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
• Help to stop a mental illness from getting worse
• Help someone to recover faster
• How to guide someone to towards the right support
• How to reduce the stigma of mental health problems
