‘The quality of teaching is the single most important in-school factor in improving outcomes for pupils – and it is particularly important for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. No one is born a great teacher. Great teachers continuously improve over time, benefitting from the mentoring of expert colleagues and a structured introduction to the core body of knowledge, skills and behaviours that define great teaching’
The transition from Initial Teacher Training to Early Career Teacher is exciting and challenging and there has never been a more attractive and rewarding time to join the profession.
The ITTECF sets out the entitlement of every trainee and early career teacher (ECT) to the core body of knowledge, skills and behaviours that define great teaching, and to the mentoring and support from expert colleagues they should receive throughout the three or more years at the start of their career. ECTs will purposefully revisit the elements of teaching introduced in ITT to deepen their knowledge and understanding. The ITTECF remains designed to equip all trainees and ECTs with a shared body of knowledge and skills, irrespective of subject or phase. The Consortium Academy Trust has embraced these reforms with enthusiasm, and we are committed to ensuring the ITTECF fits seamlessly into the support we give to teachers at all career stages.
During the two-year Early Career teacher Induction, ECTs receive a package of training and support designed to build the skills and knowledge needed to ensure they feel confident and empowered when working with learners in the classroom.
All our Early Career Teachers are registered to follow the ECF Full Induction programme. Our delivery partner for the Full Induction Programme is Vantage Teaching School Hub who work in partnership with Teach First.
Alongside the ECF Programme, we are also excited to share our ECT Trust Core Offer, which provides a range of opportunities to support and develop our new entrants. To learn more, please click HERE
